Rabri is a Sweet and Condensed milk that is prepared by putting milk on low flame and boiling it for a long time until the milk changes its colouring to creamy pinkish.  It is then flavoured by adding sugar, dry fruits and spices. It is then cooled and served chilled as desserts after meals. Rabri is simple to make at house and can provide as a great finger licking treat.

This frothy treat is different to this rule to produce low cost street food in Delhi. You will find the humble-looking road stalls in the by lanes of old Delhi providing a whole glass of Rabri for around 100 bucks. This is more than the price of an apple pie or a chocolates brownie at CCDs and at Baristas and some other premium stuff sold in Delhi. However a normal size serving of Rabri could be had for 10 bucks. If you are looking out for cafes and restaurants in Delhi, you can follow burrp.com  on twitter or download the app for your blackberry smartphones here.

Used in a big plate and protected with a translucent net to keep off the dust particles, insects and flies, Rabri, as marketed on the avenues, is a very easy to make dish. It requires only two ingredients: milk and sugar, which are together boiled on a slow flame for several minutes. As it condenses and simmers, layers of cream or malai accumulates on the surface. This creamy crust is moved away and is made way for new layers of cream. The procedure remains until almost all of it is treated – the end result of this whole procedure is Rabri.

While its tough dirty surface will hardly lure anybody’s graphic feelings, the shopkeepers are so confident of Rabri’s attraction that they never try overselling by screaming about its good features. They know that engaged passers-by will certainly quit.

In most of the stalls, this dish is provided in a clay pot, which adds to the flavour of the Rabri. The Sweet Shops in Chandni Chowk are simple looking where the sweet is composed of a big plate of the dessert and is usually sprinkled with coarsely reduced pistachio and other dry fruits.

Fills up you up in a few spoonfuls, the sweet, freezing and loaded Rabri rests gently on the taste buds of everyone. Thick and Creamy, the white-colored substance is condensed milk in its best and purest form.

TGI Friday | Delhi

Delhi has the taste of all when it comes to food. Be it the lanes of old city or the swanky restaurants and hangouts. When in the capital, you have the option to choose from a huge variety of cuisines that range from street chat to regional food to continental cuisines.

Food in Delhi is a blend of North Indian, South Indian, Chinese, Continental and American Fast food. Delhiites Live to Eat and International food chains like McDonalds, Dominos, Pizza Hut, Pizza Express and TGIF justify this statement.

If you want to try out Mexican cuisine there are a number of options that may interest you.  To start with there is Ruby Tuesdays and TGIF (Thank God it’s Friday).  Both the places are exceptionally good and serve amazing food.  TGIF Noida has been a personal favourite for me. A great place to have Mexican and Italian food along with some chilled beer.

Some introduction about the restaurant.  TGIF is a restaurant chain in the around world with the concept of ancient artefacts, several elements of the game, bar and lounge setting. The music is good and not very loud and the setup is just amazing. The overall feeling is very relaxing. Just like a Friday Evening, when the job is done for the week and u want to start the weekend with some good food and drink.  All in all, a good place to go to with your family or your colleagues

They always keep spinning the menu and you will always find some offer or the other at the Noida outlet, because they are new and want to settle. For example, currently every purchase has a buy 1 get 1 offer for food and drinks both.

TGIF serves both Vegetarian and Non – Vegetarian food and here are some of my recommendations that you may try when you visit this place.

For Non – Vegetarians: ‘Chicken Fajita Nachos’ or ‘Three-For-All’ scheme where you get three appetizers in one serving. For main dish, try ‘Sizzling Chicken and Cheese’ or ‘Fridays Shrimp’.

For Vegetarians: ‘Grilled Pita Dipper’, ‘Fried Mac & Cheese’ or ‘Dynabites’ in appetizers. For Main Dish ‘Broken Noodles’ pasta or ‘Quesadillas’ or ‘Chimichanga’ is a good option you can go with. Top it up with ‘Fridays Sundae’ – Vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge, caramel sauce, nuts and cream as desert.

Overall an amazing place to visit for all foodies out there in Delhi. Thumbs up to TIG Fridays.
